Pandit Sri Ananta Das Babaji Maharaja was born in the Jarikhanda region in 1927. In his youth, he was a teacher, living with his wife and children. He had heard of the glory of Sri Kunj Bihari Das Babaji Maharaj, the estranged bhajananandi saint from Radha Kunda, who was an influential man in the Jarikhanda region during his family life, in 1950, Sri Ananta Dasa ji decided to go on a pilgrimage to meet this saint.
Arriving at Radha Kunda, he met with this mahatma, and received initiation into a chain of disciplic succession going from Sri Nityananda Prabhu and Srimati Jahnava Mata through descendants of Sri Dhananjaya Pandita. Over the next two months, Sri Sri Kunja Bihari Das Babaji taught him the sacraments of philosophy, worship and meditation, practiced in the tradition of Gaudiya Vaishnavism.
At the end of this visit, in spite of his desire to stay on Radha Kunda, Sri Kunja Bihari Das Babaji ordered him to return to his village to preach the message of Sri Chaitanyadeva, initiating people into the practice of spiritual life.

By order of his guru, Sri Ananta Das ji returned to his family and spent the next ten years educating local people, and during this time he initiated about two hundred people. He decided to accept the abdication when his children grew up, and went on a trip to Radha Kunda, this time to stay there forever. Arriving at this holiest of all holy places, he received the clothes of an ascetic from Sri Kunj Bihari Das Babaji. Over the next decades, he engaged in a comprehensive study of the canon of the sacred texts of Gaudí, while at the same time sinking deeper and deeper into bhajan, practicing both external and esoteric internal methods of worship.
